Aris Sobotis is a graduate of the Faculty of Philosophy (Department of English Language and Literature) of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Coursework in British and American Theatre, Sociolinguistics and Applied Linguistics, 1999) and holds a Certificate of Professional Study in Image Making (Strategic Communication Techniques, Reputation Management, Image Making Techniques, Being on camera) and Social Networking and Social Media (New Age Media Ethics, Identity online and offline, Public Opinion Management, Community Relations on the web & online Reputation Management, Deree – School of Continuing and Professional Studies, 2011). During his studies at the University, he was an active member of the Bald Theatre Lab, mentored by Professors Savas Patsalidis and Elsa Sakellaridou. He spent three years there as an actor and musical performer. His first production as a production manager was Baltimore Waltz by Paula Vogel (directed by Rosey Strub, Thessaloniki 1997). He produced a number of theatre productions in Athens and Thessaloniki (XIV International Meeting on Ancient Drama in Delphi, 2009), at the 44th Dimitria Festival of Thessaloniki (2009), Athens Festival, Stegi-Onassis 2013) and IETM Athens (Technopolis 2013). In 2004 he worked as Language Services Venue Manager (Athens 2004 Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games). From 2005 to 2012 he worked as Creative Director, Visual Communication Specialist and Marketing Manager in commercial companies. His diverse background, ranging from linguistic and philosophical studies to creative marketing and strategic thinking, led him to establish his own freelance creative and consulting firm in 2012, providing strategic and marketing communications services and consulting to nonprofit organisations, cultural organisations, commercial enterprises and start-ups.
