About ERMIS Association

ERMIS was founded in September 1988 by parents, guardians & friends of Persons with Disabilities (Intellectual Disabilities – Down Syndrome – Autism – Mental and Multiple Disabilities). The idea for its creation came from the great need for a suitable framework & from the responsibility of the parent for his/her disabled child.

It quickly became one of the largest structures for people with disabilities in Greece. ERMIS is justly proud of the realization of many actions & programs – pioneering & innovative as well as many collaborations with similar centers abroad. Over 1600 people mainly with intellectual disabilities & Down Syndrome were trained during these years and achieved their socio-economic integration.

The detailed training programme is drawn up annually and is based on the educational, psychological and social needs of the children concerned, and social needs of the trainees, as revealed by the results of the annual assessments carried out.
