Nikos Souliotis was born in Athens in 1967. He started playing guitar at the age of 15, then drums and finally percussion since 1997.
He studied Brazilian, Indian and Greek-Mediterranean percussion in a series of seminars and courses with teachers such as R. Magnifique, L. Mitropoulos, N. Darilas, V. Karipis, G. Velez, O. Temiz, etc. Also Byzantine and traditional music and traditional Greek dances at the school of S. Karras and the Hellenic Arts Club.
Since the late 1990s he has also worked as a musician in Greece and abroad, as well as a teacher of rhythm and percussion. Since 2014 he has been leading the first band and school of the same name for Japanese (Taiko) percussion ATENE DAIKO – THE SUN DRUMS in Greece, in collaboration with sensei LIZ WALTERS. He has been studying Taiko since 2013 in Greece, Japan and elsewhere, with some of the best teachers in the world: L.WALTERS, K.MASAAKI, A. LEE, M.TSUJI, E.SAITO, S.KAMEDA, PJ HIRABAYASHI, S. YOSHII, J. KIRBY, F.TANAKADATE, B. MUI GHENT.
He studied Waldorf Education (also known as Steiner Education ) from 2005 to 2013. Since 2008 he has been a member of the board of the Friends of Waldorf Education. From 2013 to 2019, he was a daily member of an artistic animation group working in children’s hospitals as well as in elderly care facilities and other institutions for children and elderly people with disabilities. In 2019 he worked in the boarding school – day care centre for the disabled “I ARGO” as the leader of the musical education programme with Taiko drums as well as the leader of the choir.
